Bob Herbert Asks For Help

In today's New York Times, columnist Bob Herbert reports on two sisters, now in Parchman, who were jailed in their teens 18 years ago for helping three younger kids steal $11. They are Jamie and Gladys Scott. Each sister was given two lifetime sentences. Avenues of appeal have been exhausted. Now, the oldest of the three is suffering from the failure of both kidneys. They need to be released. Sentence commuted. Pardoned. Can we help somehow?

Here is his column:

Perhaps when we get out to Parchman, we could ask to visit with them? And maybe stick around until we can all leave together? Also, when Haley Barbour tries to tell us how much his world has changed, perhaps we could raise a hand and ask him why these two have suffered so long for a relatively trivial crime?

Publicity will be their best friend.
